Long-duration energy storage (LDES) has reached a pivotal moment. Driven by soaring global electricity demand, rapid renewable energy expansion, and the urgent need for dependable clean power systems, LDES is no longer just a technical concept — it is a critical piece of the world’s energy future. Yet moving from industry momentum to large-scale market adoption requires more than technology alone: it demands customer trust, investment-ready projects, proven use cases, and enabling market conditions.
Taking place 6–7 October 2026 in Madrid, Spain, the LDES Council Annual Member Meeting 2026 will gather the global LDES community to address this challenge under the theme: Scaling LDES: From Momentum to Market — Reliable · Resilient · Ready.
For the first time in its history, this flagship annual gathering will open its doors to carefully selected external stakeholders. Customers, utility operators, industrial energy buyers, data centre leaders, investors, policymakers and cross-sector ecosystem partners will join the LDES Council’s global membership, bringing real-world energy needs directly to the table with the technology and solution providers shaping the industry.
The Customer & Ecosystem Day on 6 October sits at the heart of this expanded format. Built to turn market demand into concrete action, the day will facilitate face-to-face dialogue between LDES leaders and the decision-makers who drive deployment. Attendees will jointly explore three core questions: which LDES solutions are ready for market today, which projects are commercially bankable, and where long-duration storage can solve immediate, real-world energy challenges. The goal is to translate growing industry buzz into tangible projects, new partnerships, and measurable on-the-ground progress.
External parties interested in attending may request an invitation via the official event webpage. The official campaign hashtag for the event is #LDESCouncil26.
