Date: August 26–28, 2026
City: Lanzhou, Gansu, China
Hosted by the China Energy Research Society and the China Energy Storage Alliance (CNESA), the 11th Western Energy Storage Forum will be held from August 26 to 28, 2026 in Lanzhou, Gansu Province, China.
As China enters the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the country is accelerating power market reform and advancing the full participation of renewable energy in electricity markets. With the continued development of the new power system and the deepening of the Western Development Strategy, western China is entering a new phase of clean energy transition focused on value creation, market mechanism innovation, cross-regional resource coordination, and advanced technology deployment.
Gansu Province is positioning itself as a major energy hub in western China. The province is promoting new energy and energy storage as key drivers of green and low-carbon development, while improving power spot market mechanisms, piloting capacity compensation, expanding interprovincial and cross-regional power trading, and creating diversified revenue opportunities for energy storage. At the same time, Gansu is advancing large-scale wind and solar bases in desert and Gobi areas, supporting the green transformation of energy-intensive industries, and developing new application scenarios such as zero-carbon industrial parks and direct green power supply.
Lanzhou is also building on Gansu’s hydrogen energy strategy and its role as a core node along the Belt and Road. The city is strengthening its position as a hydrogen energy industry hub, supporting innovation in long-duration energy storage, large-capacity batteries, energy storage asset securitization, international energy cooperation, and overseas market development for new energy and energy storage companies.
The forum will bring together government agencies, industry leaders, research institutions, project developers, investors, technology providers, and energy users to discuss power market innovation, energy storage revenue mechanisms, advanced technologies, application scenarios, investment and financing models, and international industrial cooperation.
