On May 17th, the National Energy Administration issued a notice regarding the safety inspection of comprehensive energy utilization projects, including molten salt thermal energy storage. On May 7th, 2023, an accident involving high-temperature molten salt rupture occurred in a molten salt thermal energy storage project jointly operated by Henan Yuneng Holdings Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Hebi Fenghe Power Generation Co., Ltd., and Rundian Energy Science and Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Resources Power. The accident resulted in one fatality and 13 injuries.,After the incident, the leading officials and responsible officials of the administration issued instructions separately, demanding a systematic investigation of the molten salt thermal storage projects and their safety risk management situation.
